Purpose:
The Field Service Technician provides support to the Service Operations Manager in the form of first line customer liaison, service and repair of Arrive ticketing equipment as well as quality control of field service activities.
Main Responsibilities
a) The Field Service technician will carry out on-site preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to ticketing equipment to defined standards
b) To be able to deal with basic PC related problems and set up PC for system operation
c) Contribute to a service-minded and client-oriented approach focused upon the end user's satisfaction.
d) To conduct yourself and professionally promote the company at all times
e) Communicate with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing, escalating all major issues to the service management team as appropriate.
f) Be able to complete all documents on time, to agreed company standards
g) Be responsible for and keep all company stock and equipment in good order, liaise with the store's department to ensure that the allocation of spare parts is of a satisfactory level.
h) Be of smart appearance whilst conforming to onsite H&S rules
i) Assist with the implementation of new equipment or the upgrade of existing equipment as required. Occasional installation work is also a feature of the post
j) Organisation of the response calls to ensure that defined targets of response are achieved.
k) Hold a full Class B driving license
Core skills:
a) An electrical engineering background with a relevant electrical qualification ideally with previous field service experience
b) Self-organized, motivated and able to work using their own initiative.
c) Proven customer service skills to deal with customers and company staff at all levels.
d) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
e) A good level of core IT skills specifically Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
Experience:
a) A track record of delivering outstanding customer service at a technician level.
b) Extensive experience in managing operational customer service teams.
c) Proven management of contract SLAs at a senior management level.
d) In-depth SME knowledge of the field service delivery within the transport sector.
Behaviors:
a) Proven interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. To be able to manage internal working relationships and to professionally manage client meetings where potentially complex and/or contentious issues may be discussed.
b) Ability to work within a demand led environment, demonstrating tenacity, self-motivation, adaptability and problem solving skills.
c) A positive attitude and a ‘can do’ approach to challenges.
