About the Role

As part of our Design System team it is very important to communicate and collaborate with other teams, therefore we are looking for team members that not only enjoy the technical work, but also enjoy collaboration with other teams to build great solutions. This role presents an opportunity to join a high performing team, become involved in global integrations and thrive within an autonomous environment.

As an Android Design System Engineer in the Design System team at Arrive you will face all aspects of serving the needs of engineers at Arrive. Ultimately, we want to provide our engineers with the very latest and best UI components for building native Android user interfaces, in order for them to create a world class experience for our customers.

Today our Design System team consists of one product manager, two product designers, one web developer, and one iOS developer. The team provides support to 400+ engineers and 80+ product teams across the entire organization. Our design system is in a mature state thanks to the team's efforts to continuously increase adoption. With this role we aim to take the design system to the next level, which includes AI adoption and automation.

Everyday life as Android Design System Engineer

• Together with a strong and supportive team you will plan and build new native android components and work to enhance existing components as part of a global organization with teams situated all over the world

• Deliver technical enhancements according to the team mission and overarching goals of the company

• Effectively use rollout procedures such as blue/green along with other techniques to minimize disruption and downtime while releasing new product capabilities

• Be a leader in driving adoption of your teams components across the engineering community while constantly seeking ways to improve those components and delight our customers

• Be part of an autonomous and empowered team working in accordance with product driven development.

• Take shared responsibility for the team goals and product quality

Required Technical skills:

• A keen interest in learning new skills and working with new and evolving technology

• Strong technical skills in Kotlin

• Strong interest in topics like Design Systems, UI infrastructure, tooling and platform as a service

• Experience in building high quality UI components and understanding on how to build a shared library that can be easily extended, and be consumed by other developers

• Deliver high quality and well documented components with clean APIs

• Know and follow accessibility guidelines for Android and be able to spot accessibility issues

• Experience from GitHub actions

Good to have Technical Skills:

• Experience with Figma

• Experience with React Native

• Experience with JavaScript

• Understanding of micro service architecture
