We're seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to own, shape, and scale a world-class payment platform that impacts millions of users worldwide. Technical leadership & quality ownership: Serve as the technical authority on architecture and complex challenges, champion modern, secure coding standards, and ensure risks are identified, mitigated, and clearly communicated.
Stakeholder management & strategic delivery: Actively contribute to stakeholder discussions, drive business decisions, and own end-to-end project delivery, including shaping and aligning the team roadmap with business goals.
People leadership & mentoring: Mentor and develop engineers, support career growth, provide and receive continuous feedback, and elevate team capabilities, quality standards, and best practices.
Cross-functional collaboration & communication: Coordinate across departments to deliver strategic initiatives, ensure team-wide accountability for delivery, and drive alignment through clear, structured communication and documentation.
About you
You own the domain understanding for the payments product area and ensure the team aligns with business goals and technical standards.
You communicate domain insights across functions, departments, own technical and process design for a full product or platform area.
You ensure solutions are consistent, efficient, and resilient, and promote reusability and shared best practices and own delivery quality for your product area and ensure quality practices are embedded in daily workflows.
You guide the team in prioritizing and executing efficiently and establish and monitor testing practices across the product or service. You ensure validation is consistent, measurable, and data-driven, and coach others in effective testing methods.
You ensure the team consistently applies security and compliance standards and collaborate with security experts to review and improve designs, and help integrate security checks into delivery pipelines.
You lead operational reviews and improvement initiatives and ensure systems are scalable, resilient, and cost-effective, and advocate for automation and observability.
Your background
7+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record of operating at or growing into a lead/principal level.
Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, Kafka, PostgreSQL
Proven ability to own technical strategy for a product or platform area end-to-end.
Deep experience in mentoring and growing engineers and fostering high-performing teams.
Strong stakeholder communication skills — you bridge business and engineering with clarity and confidence.
Hands-on expertise in DevOps practices: CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
A security-first mindset with experience in risk assessments and applying secure-by-design principles.
Strategic thinker who uses data and insights to weigh trade-offs and align decisions with long-term goals.
Available for on-call duties one week out of every five weeks.
