Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Senior Sales Compensation Systems Architect to lead the design, configuration, optimization, and ongoing evolution of our sales compensation platform ecosystem. This role will report to the Director of Sales Compensation and serve as the primary owner of the Xactly architecture, driving scalable compensation solutions, advanced commission automation, data integrations, and operational excellence across global sales compensation programs.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in Xactly configuration and technical development with strong business acumen in incentive compensation strategy, sales operations, and financial analysis. This individual will partner closely with Sales Compensation, Finance, Revenue Operations, HR, and IT teams to ensure accurate commission processing, scalable plan administration, and actionable performance insights for executive leadership.
This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring the ability to architect complex compensation solutions while also supporting ongoing administration, testing, analytics, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Xactly Architecture & Platform Ownership
● Serve as the technical owner and subject matter expert for the Xactly platform environment.
● Design, configure, and maintain scalable compensation solutions within Xactly Incent and related modules.
● Develop complex commission calculation logic, rules, formulas, workflows, and custom configurations aligned with business requirements.
● Lead platform optimization initiatives to improve automation, processing efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.
● Manage platform enhancements, release updates, and long-term system architecture planning.
Integrations & Data Management
● Architect and maintain integrations between Xactly and upstream/downstream systems including CRM, ERP, HRIS, payroll, and data warehouse platforms.
● Develop and support ETL processes, automated data pipelines, and file integrations using Xactly Connect and related technologies.
● Partner with IT to ensure data accuracy, governance, and system reliability.
● Troubleshoot integration issues, reconcile data discrepancies, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Compensation Operations & Plan Support
● Support the implementation and ongoing administration of sales compensation plans globally.
● Translate compensation plan documents into scalable technical configurations and automated calculation logic.
● Assist Compensation leadership in modeling plan changes, evaluating payout structures, and improving incentive effectiveness.
● Support quota, territory, rate, hierarchy, and participant management processes within Xactly.
Reporting & Performance Analytics
● Deliver comprehensive commission and compensation analysis for quarterly business reviews and executive leadership reporting.
● Build dashboards, reporting frameworks, and analytical models that provide visibility into:
○ compensation performance
○ payout trends
○ plan effectiveness
○ attainment metrics
○ cost of sales
● Identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities through detailed data analysis.
Qualifications Required:
● 5+ years of experience working with Sales Performance Management (SPM) or Incentive Compensation Management platforms.
● 3+ years of hands-on Xactly administration, configuration, or architecture experience.
● Proven experience implementing and supporting complex commission structures and calculation logic.
● Strong understanding of sales compensation processes, incentive plan design, and commission operations.
● Experience supporting global compensation programs and cross-functional business teams.
Technical Skills
● Deep expertise with:
○ Xactly Incent
○ Xactly Connect
○ Xactly Reporting
○ Xactly Analytics / Insights
○ Xactly CEA (preferred)
● Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
● Experience with ETL development, data mapping, and systems integrations.
● Familiarity with CRM and ERP ecosystems such as Salesforce, Workday, NetSuite.
● Advanced Excel and reporting/dashboard development skills.
Preferred:
● Experience leading or supporting enterprise-scale Xactly implementations.
● Knowledge of commission accounting principles and accrual methodologies.
● Experience with additional SPM platforms such as Varicent, CaptivateIQ, or Anaplan is a plus.
● Background in Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, or Finance analytics preferred.
